Now many Christmas stories start with Mary and Joseph. But what about the Angels who are to deliver the message to all of those people.
We don’t know much about them. But I want to imagine for a second what it must have been like. You see, for nearly four hundred years, there was a silence between God and man. Nothing in the Bible is written during that time.
Then God says “It’s time.” We know there was some communication, but it seems… simple.
Now the angels were going about their normal heavenly duties, doing what they do. I can imagine some of them being pulled aside – “The One wants to see you.”
An excited angel comes into the throne room. There are many other angels, all working to fill in the remaining spots before the Lord.
God, sitting on His throne speaks. “I’m sure you are wondering why I’ve called you here today. Well. It’s time.”
A murmur goes across the room. Everyone in Heaven knows what this means.
“I have assignments for each of you. You will each be responsible for preparing the way. You all will be responsible for delivering the message of my Son’s coming.”
An attendant hands out their assignments as God continues to tell about His plan. The angels all look at these holy scrolls and read their assignment.
As they go their separate ways to prepare, Gabriel looks down at his assignment. The first name he reads is “Mary”. He will tell the mother of Jesus what is to be.
Next: Mary
